Marlin yakstyle

Author: JayPenfold

Just imagine my delightfully pride lit up face as kayak fishing finally managed to make it's way on to the front page of the Sunday paper today as I delivered them to work. For all the right reasons this time, not a death from those out of their depths but an epic 100kg marlin hooked up, fought for 90 minutes by kayak game fishing.com.au's Jeff Shepperd 7km's off Currarong on the South NSW coast. Sure this beast may have busted him off not far from the yak, but what a fight! Many of my customers know my predilection for the sport and asked me had I seen it and was I envious? I said "Yes" and then "No" in that order. It's a good and bad thing when a capture like this makes Sunday paper headlines. A bad thing in the respect that the looney animal liberation crew will have a field day, Joe Average without any experience may try to replicate it and get into serious strife. Yet a good thing to give our very fast growing sport some recognition, and what an awesome hookup that was for him.. A big hat tip to Jeff Sheppeard for finally hooking up his first Marlin after losing years of dutifully crafted bait to sharks for so long. Great work mate!
