Spyderco Caspian Salt

CaspianSalt

I've just taken delivery of my latest bit of lifejacket bling. A Spyderco Caspian Salt H1 Stainless dive knife. Now I did like Josh's Aqua Salt, but something really grabbed me about this knife It is a wonderful piece of engineering. I'ts seven inches long, lightweight and is a pleasure to handle It sports a skeletonised handle, a finger hole, a line cutter , and a razor sharp single edged blade that serrates (Spyderedge I belive) halfway down to the hilt. The scabbard is constructed using fibreglass reinforcement and is seriously stiff and sturdy. The knife is secured in the scabbard using a push button device secured through the finger hole. It wont be going anywhere you don't want it to. H1 stainless means it really wont rust. It feels great in the hand. The finger hole means you never lose a grip on it even if you have to put it down to tie a knot or something. You can hold the knife whilst doing other things and just swing it back into you palm in a flash. thekfife can also be gripped in many different ways.

I use a lot of knives in my day job, and understand the right tool for the job. This is a seriously badass knife, and a versatile tool. Sure you won't be filleting whiting with it, but when it comes to cutting the throat latch of a big fish, I'm sure that this item won't let you down. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I have zip tied it at three points on my lifejacket to keep it secure and where I want it when I need it. Bring on some big fish to test this delightful new piece of kit.

binks-marine-hobie-sail-furler-kitI've never quite figured out why Hobie don't make a furling kit for their drop-in sailkits but it's nice to know someone is out there making them, because furling systems beat the hell out of trying to wind up a sail by...
