Once in a while along comes a great bit of estuary kayak fishing gear that I'd been wanting, but didn't know I needed.
Enter the fishing measure measuring tape. It's small, light and has at the pull of a finger a tape measure that gives not only the length of the fish, but state specific size limits at the designated lengths. I will have mine cinched under the Revo's Starboard rudder down line in the mesh pocket (where my rusty tired old bargain Miter 10 job once lived) so I can use it with one hand to measure my catch. It sports a rubberised non slip outer, can measure up to 1300mm TL, and at the far end of the tape even has a a species identification chart and some jokes. It also has a belt clip for those inclined to stalk the banks and beaches. The locking mechanism is solid as is the quality of the tape. (Tradesmen will use it for a backup I'm sure!). I've yet to put it to a practical test but I'm banking on this being a reliable and great piece of kit for my backwater exploits.
Check out the fishing measure website for more details. At $12.95 it won't break the bank either. Available for each state's regulations. Being a Nth NSW resident, it goes without saying mine is a NSW model as pictured above
