Thule wing & slide bars

Author: josh

Thule have developed a couple of new roof rack bar systems, both worthy of mention here. One of them is a replacement for the Thule aero bar, fittingly named the Wingbar (fitting because it's shaped much like a wing). The main claim to fame for the Wingbar is noise reduction. Apparently they are a lot less prone to creating that annoying whistling sound that other bar types can create while driving.

Last but far from being least, Thule have also developed the also appropriately named Slide bar, which is a heavy duty rack bar that features sliding extensions that would do a pretty good job of simplifying the task of car-topping a kayak. While the video below doesn't really show off various techniques to go about doing that, it shows just enough to get the imagination wandering.

binks-marine-hobie-sail-furler-kitI've never quite figured out why Hobie don't make a furling kit for their drop-in sailkits but it's nice to know someone is out there making them, because furling systems beat the hell out of trying to wind up a sail by...
