It's that time of year again where Carl, Holger and I pack our cars with Adventure Island kayaks as well as fishing, photography and expedition gear and make the annual Pilgrimage to Hervey Bay, our launching point for a week long getaway on the west coast of Fraser Island. We've spent the past couple of weeks in preparation - performing equipment checks and servicing, charging batteries, sharpening knives and hooks, preparing and dehydrating food, making daily ration packs, etc etc, and are all now good to go and ready to roll. We're not yet sure if we'll be out there for 7 or 8 days; weather will likely dictate what happens there but hopefully we'll get a say in the matter.
We'll be following a similar plan to last year, sailing out from the marina and aiming for Moon Point and then continuing north from there. Along our route we will no doubt stop off at Wathumma creek and likely find a few other creek mouths to call home for a night as well, though ideally we'll reach the upper end of Platypus Bay and around Rooneys Pt before having to turn around and heading back south again. The entire time our eyes will be peeled for fish and with any luck we'll find many distractions along the way. We're absolutely armed to the teeth with some quality gear, so if conditions are good and fish cooperate, we're expecting to catch some pretty impressive fish. We'll be reporting back the results immediately upon return, including a full video report that will make up YCKFS E7.

Sadly, Paulo and his AI (pictured in foreground) won't be attending this year, due to work commitments. Geez that AI works hard!
If my Optus powered phone provides reception from the island, I might attempt some live updates... but no promises on that.
