If we're talking about the weather, 2011 was an interesting year (in the chinese sense of the term), with the La Nina phenomenon being blamed on events such as the Queensland floods. I hate to be the bearer of bad news and I really hope I'm wrong here but it's looking very likely that 2012 might turn out much the same. According to this article from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center which states fairly clearly that La Nina is back.
Certainly this would seem consistent with the weather we've observed in recent weeks but what is somewhat intimidating is the 28-day long range weather forecast from Weatherzone. A cursory glance at the NSW northern rivers region returns a result that predicts a high likelihood of rain on 23 out of the next 28 days. I'm going out on a limb here by predicting that perhaps its going to be a pretty slow start to the kayak fishing year for many of us. And based upon those predictions, I'll be pleasantly surprised if we don't see more floods.
