Inflatable yoke style PFD
Well aware of how popular the lightweight inflatable yoke style vests have become with kayak anglers, among several new Personal Floatation Devices (PFD, or life vest to keep it simple) recently introduced into their range, Hobie have included what they call the 'i-yoke'.
Most boaters and kayakers would be familiar with the inflatable yoke style vests by now and this particular model is similar to most, fully Australian standard approved with type 1 classification. A nice touch on Hobie's i-yoke is a softened neoprene cuff for the back of the neck, which makes it more comfortable than those without it.
Well designed for kayak fishing - especially as a lightweight and cool alternative to foam-filled styles - and reasonably priced (AU$110) Hobie's new i-yoke inflatable vest is going to be very popular indeed.
Speaking about inflatable PFDs, it's worth noting that inflatable vests such as these do require inspection from time to time and instructions on how to do that yourself can be found at the NSW Maritime website
