So...... If I get an AI. Should we hold another comp to name it? Or shall I just come up with something myself?

- About me
- I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast with my eternally patient and loving wife Kate. I am a lover of the outdoors and if it’s near the ocean, better still. I love targeting the wiley bream on light tackle around the many available man made structures but I am also drawn to the big blue and the lure of bigger fish such as snapper, and of course, the many pelagic species available in summer.
I enjoy competing in the KFT (Kayak Fishing Tournament) and the Hobie ABT as well when I can afford to. Writing the occasional article for yakass has been a pleasure and I am soon to have an article published in Issue 4 of the Blade Kayak Fishing Journal. I have been privileged to have had 3 sponsors and my most recent sponsor is stealthserpent.com who provided me with some 1st class equipment.

- dunebuggy replied to the topic Re: My first damper in the forum.Yeah, Tony they are very handy. Pretty much anything you can do in the traditional, but oh so heavy, cast iron camp oven can also be don in the Cobb. Cakes & muffins, roast meat & veg, use it as a hotplate to cook a steak etc..
I have ordered a book that they produce called "COBB - Grill on the go" and a roasting rack. The roasting rack is not essential but does have it's advantages. Last nights damper was done in a cake tin supported vy 3 evenly spaced egg rings to allow hot air circulation under the tin. Had it been directly on the metal plate, it may well have been charred on the bottom. Not a real drama if it was though.
Our 1st meal in it was actually pork. I didn't have a roast but I had 3 thick pork medallions which I layered and wrapped tight in alfoil (shiny side in) with each side of each piece coated with "Gourmet garden roast seasoning" which comes in a tube like toothpaste. It contains Rosemary, Thyme, Parsley & Garlic. Add to that, a smear of honey on each layer.
Long story short - you couldn'r cut thr pork with a knife, it just fell apart. Sooo tender, melt in your mouth. Definitely going to do a full size roast in it.
Thanks for the comments guys.

- dunebuggy created a new topic My first damper in the forum.Had home made chicken soup for dinner tonight but with it, we had my first "Cobb cooked" damper. I went a little heavy on the milk and had to add more flour but it turned out kind of ok. A tad doughy perhaps but very filling. Neither the wife, nor Mum or myself could manage more than one piece with out big bowl of home made chicken soup.
I can't really say how long it took to cook as I forgot to check the time when I put it in the Cobb. I only used 5 heat beads but I reckon it might have taken an hour. The roasting rack I ordered hasn't arrived yet so I sat the round cake tin on 3 egg rings, evenly spaced, to allow airflow underneath.
Very pleased with my 1st effort but there is definitely room for improvement. I reckon this might even go well for a snack with some jam on it. I'll be taking the Cobb kayak camping (as Josh did) for sure.

- Added a new marker in the Yakass hot-spot map: Brays RockBrays Rock is a small patch of reef just off the headland at Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Depending on the time of year and conditions it has been known to produce Snapper, Sweetlip, Spotted Mackeral, School Mackeral, Spanish Mackeral, Mac Tuna, Longtail Tuna and Cobia, just to name a few. Ignore the address shown in the location details.
