- Added a new marker in the Yakass hot-spot map: Dumbleton WeirA good spot of barra and mangrove jacks. need to check tides as the currents can make for hard going. access by tracks leading down to the water, careful of wash outs and it maybe safer/easier to trolley yaks down to the water. crocodiles can be present.
- Added a new marker in the Yakass hot-spot map: Mackay HarbourYou can launch from the ramp or on the northern or southern beaches

my idea is to sleep on the ground with the hammock using the tarp over my tent frame for shelter. that link you put up shep would work on solid ground but in sand i think it is unlikely you would be able to get the traction from the pegs to hold it all up. maybe those pegs that josh posted about (anchor pegs i think) might work though.

- Carl created a new topic the Hamtent take 2 in the forum.josh has asked me to resubmit this topic to see if the bugs have been ironed out...so here goes..
after seeing the article josh posted about sleeping shelters i had a brain fart and looked to see if a hammock could be used as a tent when no trees are available to hang from. the jungle tent i have can be used on the ground, just needing something to hang the fly screen off. using the theory of a picture tells a thousand words i will let the following pics detail my plans.
there are a couple of downsides to this configuration such as sand can easily blow in, strong winds could push rain into the sleeping area and the fly is not quite the right shape. all in all it seemed to work well in the wind today and as a plan B makes a suitable alternative.
on the plus side there is no need to carry a back up tent, meaning less weight, by removing the hammock you gain a good sized shelter and the ground sheet works well for under a hammock so feet can be wiped before hoping in.

- Carl replied to the topic Re: Leashing... in the forum.i have never felt the need to attach myself to the AI. when things get rough and dicey i hold the main sheet to firstly be ready to release the sail if needed and to ensure i have a strong connection should things go pear shaped. generally i have the main sheet close by or in hand at all times.
however should you lose contact with your yak then it could move at quite some speed depending on wind and current.
