Not without my Nitros...

A tribute to Nitro fishing rods manifest in the form of a montage style highlight reel featuring some of the most torturous action my Nitro rods have endured while kayak fishing off the east coast of Australia. Viewers will find a whole lot of kayak fishing action packed into a very short clip (by my standards) that runs for just over 2 minutes and weighs in around a quarter of the size War on Fish episodes do.

Despite being a much shorter clip typical of my handiwork, it actually took several days to put this together. It took a while to go through all of my videos from the past year to extract snippets of the heaviest action. I'm pretty happy with the results though. I hope you enjoy it :-)

Nice clip! loved the part where you transition from the shark above water and then the camera goes underwater and you've got a fish hooked, looked really cool

Good detail at the end there, Josh
Getting better and better on the edit-software too - as this kinda stuff normally takes responsive tools and excess of energy to do (and want to do). The future looks bright, Jedi!

Hi Josh,
I'm of 2 minds regarding the Nitros. I think the blanks are top notch but wish they came with better components. What I'd like to see them do is offer different versions of the same rod. For eg:

Magnum Butt basic
Alconite guides - $329
$60 replacement warranty

Magnum Butt Pro
Chrome SiC (or whatever a step up would be) - $359
$80 replacement warranty

Magnum Butt Elite
Titanium SiC Guides - $379
$100 replacement warranty

That sort of thing anyway.

I own the Surf Assassin beach rod and it's great. But it's really the blank (and the replacement warranty) that sets it apart. I've picked up the magnum butt that many times now with the intention of buying it, but have trouble justifying $329 for a rod with Alconite guides! The action (blank) is awesome. I'm sure the Viper and Godzilla would be the same. Great tip and plenty of power in the butt when loaded.

I remember reading your post from South West Rocks when you hooked up to something substantial. I can't find it now but was there a problem with a guide that caused a bust off? I remember wondering if that would have happened with better guides? Possibly? Probably? But made me even more cautious.

Mark, there was a busted guide on my Godzilla that may have cost me that fish. But then again, the same rod has been used hardcore for about 3 years leading up to that point... and you can see the kind of use I'm talking about. That's the one and only time a guide on a nitro rod has let me down. Given the thousands of fishing hours that came before the one broken guide, it's hardly a blemish. I've seen rods fail on their first go.
