I never thought about trying it on my upper arm. That could work, as long as it stayed put. If on the arm, it should probably be a bit shorter, maybe 2 1/2 meters.

I've always used it on my ankle, as millions have while surfing, but I could see odd circumstances where it could be deadly. As Shep said, any safe way of staying with the boat.

The changes sound fine.

We don't use the plastic pipe anymore. We thought there would be wear between the line and fabric so we started by using drip irrigation line but no major wear developed with or without it. The only wear we find is if parts are too loose and flap in the wind.

You didn't mention redrawing the line from the further "outside" point of the triangle to the new bow point (so it narrows to the same width at the bow as it was before you cut the 4 inches off. That changes the 2 angles slightly for those corners as you questioned in an earlier post.

Yep, with sloppy conditions, all bets are off on things working like they should, even rudders and daggerboards at times. We sail mainly on the leeward side of our island which means the wrap-around winds and so the waves can change directions often during an outing. Makes things interesting for a few minutes till things fully switch over, with winds and waves, sometimes 2 or 3 sets of waves all coming from different directions, all at once.

Also, if an ama submerges while sailing at speed, the boat will plane off the leeward Sprayskirt stopping the ama from submerging further either giving more time to reef or let some air out of the sail in a gust, or lets you push the boat a little harder during friendly racing.
